Who we are

Uncharted Film Co. is a video production and video marketing company based in Jackson, Michigan. This policy explains what we collect when you visit unchartedfilmco.com, why we collect it, and who we share it with. It covers this website only, not the separate services of any client or partner.

Questions about anything here? Email contact@unchartedfilmco.com or call (517) 945-6010.

Information you give us

When you fill out our contact form we ask for your name, email address, phone number, the type of work you are interested in, how you heard about us, and whatever you write in the message field. All of those fields are required in order to send the form.

When you book a call, the scheduling is handled by Calendly, which collects your name, email address, and the time you choose. That information is governed by Calendly's own privacy policy as well as this one.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising. These record things like the pages you view, the site or ad that sent you here, and general details about your browser and device.

Our server also reads the IP address attached to a form submission. We use it only to rate limit the form and block automated spam, it is held briefly in memory for that purpose and is not stored with your message or used to profile you.

Advertising and conversion measurement

We advertise through Google Ads, and the Google tag is installed across this site. It tells us which ads and search terms lead to real enquiries, so we are not paying for clicks that go nowhere. Through it, Google may also add your browser to a remarketing audience, which is how you might see our ads again on other sites after visiting.

We use a Google feature called enhanced conversions. When you submit the contact form, your email address and phone number are converted into an irreversible SHA-256 hash inside your own browser before anything is sent. Google receives only that hashed value, never your email address or phone number in readable form, and uses it solely to match the enquiry back to an ad click. Under the Google Ads Data Processing Terms, Google acts as a data processor for this information. We do not send your name, your message, or anything else from the form to Google.

You can opt out of personalised Google advertising at myadcenter.google.com, and you can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time. Doing either will not stop you from using this site.

Content embedded from other services

Some pages embed content hosted elsewhere: videos from Vimeo, maps from Google Maps, and the booking calendar from Calendly. When one of these loads, that provider can set its own cookies and see that you visited the page, exactly as if you had gone to their site directly. Their handling of that data is covered by their own privacy policies.

How we use your information

We use what you send us to reply to your enquiry, to prepare a quote or proposal, and to deliver work you hire us for. We use the measurement data described above to understand which marketing is working and to improve the site. We do not use any of it to make automated decisions about you.

How it is stored and for how long

Contact form submissions are emailed straight to our inbox. This website does not keep a database of enquiries, so your message lives in our email account and nowhere else on the site. We keep those emails as long as we need them for the enquiry and for our business records, and we delete them on request.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We do rely on a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf: Google (advertising and conversion measurement), Calendly (scheduling), Vimeo (video hosting), Sanity (content management), Vercel (website hosting), and our email provider. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Your choices

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@unchartedfilmco.com and we will handle it. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under local privacy law, and we will honour those too.

Children

This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information we will update this page and move the date at the top. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
